Which store actually sells games cheapest?
We tracked every price change across the authorized stores for 15 days, in five regions. Here is who came out on top.
Snapshot taken September 6, 2026 · the US
Over September 2026, first half, GOG was cheapest more often than any other store: it had the lowest price on 51% of the games it sells.
Steam won the most games overall (37%), but that mostly reflects catalogue size: it simply sells far more games than anyone else.
Key findings
- Over September 2026, first half we tracked 5,657 games. Ranked by how often a store is cheapest on the games it sells, GOG leads with 51%.
- Steam tops the raw count with 37% of all games, but that is a measure of catalogue size, not of being cheap.
- During the period 8% of tracked games got cheaper, and 4,222 games hit the lowest price we have ever recorded.
- Terraria: $4.99 at Steam, $9.99 at GOG. Same game, same day.
Prices move all day. Every game below links to its live page, so you can check the number yourself right now.
The store league
Ranked by hit rate: how often a store has the lowest price on the games it sells. This is independent of catalogue size, so a small shop and a large one are judged the same way.

Look at the last two columns before trusting a discount badge. Two stores can advertise the same average discount and be nowhere near each other on price, because each discounts its own list price and those list prices differ wildly.
Method
- Only paid games sold by at least two authorized stores. To enter the ranking a store has to appear on enough of the games we track, otherwise a shop that is cheapest on a single game would top the table. Grey-market key marketplaces are excluded from GamerPoint entirely.
- Where a store was listed twice for the same game, only its cheapest listing counted.
- Figures are medians, not averages. A few extreme cases would pull an average away from the typical game.
- Prices come from the stores themselves through IsThereAnyDeal and Steam. Each region uses that store's own regional price wherever it sets one.
